The Bacteria

In this post I will discuss about the bacteria. Bacteria (from the Latin word bacterium : plural: bacteria) are a group of organisms that have no nucleus membrane. These organisms belong to the domain of prokaryotes and very small (microscopic), as well as having a major role in life on Earth.

Several groups of bacteria known as the causative agent of infection and disease, while the other group may provide benefits in the field of food, medicine, and industry.

# Srtucture Bacteria

Here are the benefits of bacteria:

Ø As a creature Decomposers / Saprovor
• Together with fungi, bacteria act as decomposers
• Creatures dead

Ø Producing Antibiotics
• From bacteria Actinomycetes group (intermediate form between bacteria and mushrooms) produced an assortment of antibiotics.
• For example: Streptomycin >> from Streptomyces griseus, from Kloramfemikol >>  Streptomyces venezuelae.

Ø Producing Food Ingredients
• Vinegar Acid : Acetobacter acetil
• Yoghurt : Lactobacillurs bulgaricus
• Nata de Coco : Acetobacter xylinum

Ø N2 freely in the air
• Leguminosae symbiosis with plants (plant pods): Rhizobium leguminosarum and R. radicicola
• Free life: Azotobacter, Rhodospirillum rubrum, Clostridium pasteurianum

# Losses Bacteria

Ø Harm Other Creatures
• Bacterial pathogens are parasitic bacteria that can cause disease in other organisms.

Ø In plants such as :
• Xanthomonas citri: cause of cancer stem orange.
• Erwinia trachelphilia: causes late blight pumpkin.

Ø In animals such as :
• Bacillus antraxis : causes anthrax disease in cattle.
• Actynomyces bovis : causes swelling in the jaw cow disease.

Ø In humans for example:
• Salmonella thyphosa : causes TB disease
• Mycobacterium leprae : causes of leprosy
• Treponema pallidum : causes syphilis
• Shigella dysentriae : causes dysentery basiler
• Diplococcus pneumoniae : disease-causing pneumonia
• Vibrio cholera : causes cholera

Ø Precautions And Treatment Disease Of Bacteria
• Precautions with vaccine.
• For example, BCG vaccine : Prevention of Tuberculosis
• DPT Vaccine : Prevention of diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus
• Measures of treatment : Can be by way of giving antibiotics

Ø Food Preservation
• Traditional ways : Fumigation, salting, drying, pemanisan
• Modern Ways : Sterilization, Pasteurization, cooling, use of chemical and irradiation techniques.
